This particular city is in Brown County, and Green Bay is the county seat. It is located at the head of what is called the subbasin of Lake Michigan. Summers are long, but the winters or even longer, sometimes leading to extreme amounts of snow and also very frigid conditions. When you go back in history, to the origins of this city, it began in 1860. From a couple thousand people, it has gradually increased in size, reaching over 100,000 people. Although growth has slowed down in recent decades, it is still a place where people enjoy living. Recent estimates of shown that over 42,000 households are there, with 24,000 families, with most of the people being of European origin. There are many more Latino and Hispanics that have moved into the area, and the amount of African-Americans has nearly tripled. It is becoming much more culturally diverse, and due to this fact, is attracting people from all different cultures. The median age of people in the area is roughly 33 years of age. One quarter of the residents are under the age of 18, which shows that most of the families in the area are younger with small children that they are raising. Based on these demographics, especially in regard to the slowdown of the population, it is clear that many families are either staying to raise their kids, or once they have done that, many people are moving out keeping the population ratio about the same for the last two decades. Most of the people that work there are part of Humana, whereas others work for the public school district, hospitals and medical centers, and the Georgia Pacific Railroad.
